Write On! (for Students)
Get your artistic juices flowing by exploring the fundamentals of writing and the arts! This workshop is designed for aspiring writers and most especially future 3rd- 5th graders. The curriculum includes the development of creative thinking skills through narrative writing, poetry, song parody, and musical theatre while having loads of fun and laughs. Join in on the adventure!
Get your artistic juices flowing by exploring the fundamentals of writing and the arts! This workshop is designed for aspiring writers and most especially future 3rd- 5th graders. The curriculum includes the development of creative thinking skills through narrative writing, poetry, song parody, and musical theatre while having loads of fun and laughs. Join in on the adventure!
The Writing Workshop focuses on teaching students how to:
* avoid the pitfalls of formulaic writing
* write entertaining beginnings
* capture the audiences' interest
* make the writing personal
* tap into their creative side to develop paragraphs that jump off the page
* respond to literature- narrative and expository
The Reading Comprehension Workshop focuses on teaching students to:
• think critically about what they read
• apply explicit reading strategies to texts
• use appropriate graphic organizers to understand what they read
